I turned off my laptop when it was updating dating someone with oral herpes
My problem is this: I am well within the range of the router so I really do not think range is the problem.
The other devices that are on the router are: An Xbox 360, a desktop computer, and sometimes a Galaxy phone or two.
When this happens you should plug in the power cable but DO NOT turn back on the laptop.
Wait until you are confident the battery is back to a full charge again and then turn on your laptop.
In this particular guide I’m taking apart a Presario F730US notebook. Remove three screws securing the memory cover and two screws securing the hard drive cover. Most likely if you install a 64-bit OS, you can use all 4GB. Disconnect both antenna cables from the wireless card. In the next guide I will explain how to access and remove the LCD screen with inverter board. Remove four screws securing the top cover assembly. Remove two hex studs located close to the memory slots. These cables connect the motherboard to the USB/Power connector board. As you see on the picture below, the audio board and USB/power connector board are secured to the base assembly. Now you can access and replace the cooling fan if you have to.
Before you start, turn off the laptop, unplug the power adapter and remove the battery. Were you able to upgrade your Presario F700 to 4GB? Remove two screws securing the wireless card in the top left and right corners. Remove all marked screws from the bottom of the notebook. Start lifting up the switch cover as it shown on the picture below. By the way, the RTC (CMOS) battery can be accessed when you remove the memory cover. Start separating the top cover assembly from the bottom assembly. In other Compaq/HP models there could be more then one screw securing the motherboard. Lift up the right side of the motherboard as it shown on the picture below. You can access and replace the processor if you remove the heat sink.
I think the disassembly steps will be very similar for Compaq Presario F500 and HP G6000 notebook PC. I just tested a Compaq Presario F700 (running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit OS) with two 2GB modules. After I installed two 2GB modules the laptop started properly. Remove all screws securing the top cover assembly from the bottom of the notebook.
If this guide works for your notebook, please mention the model name in the comments below. Lift up the right side of the hard drive by the plastic tab to disconnect it from the motherboard. In system properties I can see 3.19GB total RAM reported. I think that 3.19GB is only limitation of a 32-bit OS. Do not forget three (green) screws in the CD/DVD drive bay.
Be careful, there is a thin ribbon cable running from the switch cover to the motherboard. Now you can lift up the top side of the keyboard and access the connector underneath the keyboard. Carefully lift up and remove the top cover assembly.
It would turn on with a loud whir, then slowly decrease speed down to near-silent, then shut off for 10 seconds, & start the whole thing over. Granted it was marginally better than the cycling issue with my first Pavillion dv6t, but this was the CPU fan equivalent of Chinese water torture. As a last resort, I tried a BIOS update, although HP’s BIOS update changelog didn’t mention any cooling management improvements. Unfortunately I didn’t write down what BIOS version with apparently defective fan management I started out with, but regardless, the most recent BIOS update from the HP website fixed the issue.
I checked the System Resource monitor, no CPU or disk usage spikes.
HP tech support took 6 solid hours on the phone to cheerfully wade through their pre-exchange process in a futile attempt to fix an obvious hardware power problem (doing things like a full-system virus scan) … After another few weeks, I received my shiny new HP Pavillion dv6t, take two! I found a “Fan Always On” setting enabled in the BIOS (which clearly wasn’t working) & tried switching it to “Disabled”.
I happily turned it on (and it stayed on), & almost immediately I noticed the cooling fan cycling: The cooling fan would cycle on & off every ~30 seconds. It made the pause between the fan cycling only slightly longer. At this point I got my CPU fan mace off the shelf & started practicing.
All I do is disconnect my laptop from the Wi Fi and reconnect and it can stay fixed anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours. The network become limited and a quick disconnect and reconnect on my laptop is how I fix it temporarily.
